My rear bumper is now see-through.
I mean, lightened ... for speed. Yes, that.

Unrelated but the wife and I have been making good progress on all our vinyl, probably a third done or so :)

I wonder how hard it would be to swap on one of the newer bumpers with the side step.

Same here, though I see plenty of Fords and especially Dodges (early to mid-20 00’s Dakota anyone?) do the same. They all end up with the chrome holding the bumper together as they rust from the inside out.

So GM got Mazda to make their bumpers.
Not much 15 year old anythings here in northern Quebec.

My solution to rust is to keep my garage lights off so I don’t have to acknowledge it.

My ‘96 Cadillac was just starting to show signs of it when I traded in in 2010. I’m not sure if there’s any manufacturer who’s chromed metal bumpers aren’t susceptible to this

Around here, your long bed would have returned to the earth, before you were old enough to take the training wheels off if your bike.

No idea, but this being a 2wd GMT-800, the ride height is low enough that I don't really need it.

Something is see-through only when you choose to look through it. If you don't look, it doesn't exist.

It would be, but it's not enough of a problem to make me willing to out a bumper on that isn't styled for the truck.

Actually, I joke. I used to live in the UK, which is home to the tin worm. I am all too familiar with rust and so, so glad that I don’t have to worry about it now.

I havent had any issues with my 7.3 here in MI and that thing has no cab corners left.
But yea the want is strong to put an aluminum flatbed on my 6.0

I’m actually surprised you’ve gotten away with it (do you have mudflaps on the truck by any chance?). My dad had a 2010 F150 that already had rust peeking through in 2014. It had also rusted through the cab corner in that time so it was a bit of a turd.

I have aftermarket ones on my 7.3 that i put on when i did my homemade flatbed. Before that no. My 6.0 has factory running boards but no flaps. The bed is decent but the front bed supports are starting to go.
